The Perfect Diet Book

Triumph with exercising.

How many times have you tried to exercise? Has it been a New Year’s Resolution which you failed to keep within the first week of January?

Is this year going to be any different, are you going to stick to your goals of getting fit and healthy or are you going to quit within sight of the first hurdle?

If you are trying to get fit and healthy on willpower forget it because you are more than likely to fail. Instead try a different approach where you trick yourself into exercising.

You might read some of the tricks and think that doesn’t apply to you, great then use the ones that do apply. If only one tip helps to get you fit then it has been worthwhile.

Are you ready now to find the way that will work for you to get into shape this year?

* Fine yourself $5 for each workout you miss. This money at the end of each month is to be given to charity. No spending it on you is allowed. You should be working out 3 times a week and if for one month you don’t work out then the charity benefits by $65.
* If you were going to the gym and then decided to give it a miss, go and sit in the sauna. You might feel challenged once you get there to work out, especially if you meet some friends who are working out.
* Leave something behind in the locker which means you have to go back to the gym to get it. This works if you have a permanent locker and the item isn’t something you will need immediately.
* Get to know the staff and also some of the people who are working out. There is nothing better than being greeted like a friend and missed by them if you haven’t been able to turn out for your workout.
* Convince yourself that you will only do a few minutes of your workout. Once you are there it is more likely you will complete your workout.
* Find something to wear to the gym that flatters your body. You might not like what you see in the mirror but remind those voices in your head, that by going to the gym that body is on the way out and will be replaced by a new body shape.
* Give yourself a challenge. It might be a new class or learning how to use a new piece of equipment. Keep a record of the challenges and when you manage to get them done.
* Ask a friend to call you before you are due at the gym to make sure you have no excuse to miss a class.
* Take one day at a time as is the case for an alcoholic. If you miss one lessons then it doesn’t matter, you just go to the next one. It only matters if you miss all the lessons and quit.
* Sign up for a charity event; it could be something like a marathon or even a short walk. Get all your friends to sponsor you and then know you have to tell them why you failed and quit.
* Arrange for your shower during the time you are at the gym rather than in the morning at home. That way you will make sure you go especially if you are heading out in the evening.
* If you are able to deal with this, tell all your work colleagues and ask them to give you a hard time if you miss a workout.
* Have your own personal statement of what you want to achieve. Let some close friends in on the secret who will encourage you to make sure you don’t fail.
* Have a girls night out at the gym rather than the cinema. Afterward you could go out for a meal or drink.
* Finally is it cheaper to go to the gym than it is to go to therapy. A study at both Oxford and Canada found that active women are psychologically healthier and less neurotic than women who don’t exercise.

You might be saying that you can’t afford a gym. That is fine but you can afford exercise even if that is walking the dog each day. If you can’t get out and walk then do some exercise in the house. There is no excuse for anyone not doing exercises. Even people in a wheelchair can exercise and have a workout problem made just for them.

Finally exercise is good for you. Do you suffer from depression, SAD or just feeling a little low? The answer is to exercise. If you are suffering then exercise is your friend, because when you exercise your body releases something called ENDORPHINS. Now you might wonder what they are. They are a natural anti-depressant and will help anyone who is feeling depressed. 10 mins exercise and the endorphins will be released and you will feel a lot better. So quit on the excuses and get to work.
